Wildlife and Nature Reserves

Children need nature. Nature needs children. A Wildlife and Nature Reserve school trip can make a fantastic impression on children & young people with their learning & discovery, emotional & physical wellbeing, inspiring them to become environmentally responsible individuals. Studies have defined that outdoor learning can have positive impacts concerning critical thinking, creative questioning and problem solving, allowing students to think about issues important to their lives and the world outside of the classroom. Modern life has brought with it some incredible advances in technology, but has also led to some very rapid changes in ways of living that can have an adverse health impacts. Through a school wildlife & nature reserve visit, pupils can learn about wildlife and nature first hand making the teaching more vivid and interesting and expanding their understanding of the subject at hand. Additionally, nature is a major motivational factor for exercise, with very strong evidence to suggest that being outdoors and attracted to wildlife & nature leads to children, young people & adults increasing their activity levels, enjoyment, relaxation and lowering stress and mental health problems. A school visit to a wildlife and nature reserve can appeal to Early Years Foundation Stage children, Key stages 1 to 4 and university students; from talks to explorations to educational workshops, day visits and residential stays, most of our listed venues can help teachers plan visits that are related to curriculum lessons such as mathematics, science and social studies, with wildlife & nature in mind.
