• Howletts Wild Animal Park has the largest herd of elephants in the UK.
• Howletts Wild Animal Park has more gorillas than any other zoo. Howletts Wild Animal Park is one of the most successful breeders of West Lowland gorillas, so there are always baby gorillas to see.
• Conservation is at the heart of Howletts Wild Animal Park. Howletts works in partnership with The Aspinall Foundation to rewild their animals where possible. They have reintroduced gorillas to the Congo, gibbons and langur to Java and plan on rewilding the elephants to Africa in the future.
• Free curriculum linked school talks and workshops.
• Lion cubs, Zemo and Zala are now on show in their own enclosure for visitors to meet

What is typically included on our school trips

- Entrance to Howletts Wild Animal Park to see over 390 animals, including Kent’s only giant anteaters, the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, more gorillas than any other zoo, leopards, monkeys, lion cubs, lemur walk through

- Interactive ranger talks. Curriculum linked school talks and workshops to suit all key stages. Choose from a range of animal talks and workshops to make your Kent school trip even more memorable.

- Animals Of The Ice Age - discover creatures from a forgotten time as you explore Animals of the Ice Age in our leafy Woodland Walk.

- Play areas – there are a variety of play areas around the parkland.

Materials, Resources & Information Provided

Howletts Wild Animal Park provides a map for each child. There are no materials required for the talks and workshops.

No commercial filming, recording or photography of any kind in any media is permitted without permission of Howletts Wild Animal Park.

Student aged 16+ : £12

Teacher of TA: £12 (one admitted free per 5 paying children)

We just advise suitable footwear for walking.

First aid is on site and our staff are first aid trained.

• There are lots of picnic areas and cafes to eat lunch.
• Pocket money is required if children want to shop in the gift shop.

• There are two cafes and coffee/snacks/ice cream kiosks

Our winter season begins at the end of November.

​​During this time we are open 10am-4pm on Friday-Sundays and school holiday dates only.

We will reopen 7 days a week for our spring season on Friday 29th March 2024.
