Our unique cable cars are a brilliant way to kick off the day, soaring over the Derwent Valley. Once you’re at the summit, there is a whole range of things to see and do, both educational and fun! Visiting the Heights means you can cover a range of topics, such as History, Geography, Geology, English, Art, Science and Technology.

The Heights has been consistently awarded GOLD via Visit Englands Visitor Attractions Quality Scheme and has been awarded 2021 and 2022 TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice, placing us in the top 10% of attractions worldwide.

What is typically included on our school trips

A cable car return journey, two guided cavern tours to learn about geology and history of mining, social history and period costume exhibition, film showings, free worksheets for all ages, the Woodland corner outdoor classroom and two adventure playgrounds.

Pricing Information

£10.00 per pupil, 1 free teacher per 10 pupils, additional teachers at £18.00 per person. SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistants are free. Please note that carers are admitted free of charge when accompanying a paying guest. Clothing Requirements

We recommend sensible footwear and warm coats for cavern tours.

We have first aid trained staff members across all departments on site, with first aid kits in each area.
